Best Top Laners to One Trick

It should be no secret by now that one-tricking a champion is the best way to climb the ranked ladder the fastest. By one-tricking a champion, you’re able to focus more on the macro aspects of League of Legends that make you a more well-rounded player instead of constantly using your brain power to try and optimize Champion combos or mechanics. In this post, we’re going to be showing you the best top laners to one trick in season 14.

Kled

One of the absolute best champions in the game that you can one-trick as a top laner is Kled.

No matter the meta, Kled always remains a very solid top lane pick. He’s never banned a ton yet has so much skill expression that makes mastering him very worthwhile. At the time of this post, Kled’s ban rate is below 1%. And it’s stayed there for the past few patches.

Kled has a very unique kit that makes him more difficult to pick up. But extremely devastating in the hands of a one-trick. There’s a very fine line you have to walk with Kled to get the most out of him. Since his passive provides him with incredible duelling strength.

With most champions, you’ve just got your normal health bar that you have to track. But with Kled, he has his mounted and dismounted health bar that makes his outplay potential insane.

Just getting used to both of Kled’s mounted and dismounted forms will take you a lot of time to learn, but that’s why one-tricking him is such a great idea.

The standard build for Kled in Season 14 has evolved, with many players opting for Eclipse, Profane Hydra, and either armor or magic resist boots.

For his runes, it’s recommended to use Conqueror as the Keystone Rune, paired with Triumph, Alacrity, and Coup de Grace. As for secondary runes, Sudden Impact with Eyeball Collection.

Irelia

Our second one-trick selection for Top Lane is another champion with a bunch of skill expressions built into her kit: Irelia.

The outplay potential you have with Irelia due to her ability to acquire multiple Q resets makes her extremely rewarding to master.

Her E is an ability that will take a lot of trial and error at first, but when you get it down, the instant catch power becomes nuts. Being able to close a ton of ground very quickly by getting Q resets on minions and then following up with a stun from E gives Irelia some of the best snowball power for any champion in the game.

Players may think they’re sitting far enough back in lane, but Irelia can close distance in such a short period that it makes punishing enemies’ positional errors super easy. Once you master the champion, the build you should be running on Irelia consists of Blade of the Ruined King, armor/MR boots, Kraken Slayer, and Immortal Shieldbow.

For runes, take Conqueror for the Keystone Rune with Presence of Mind, Alacrity, and Last Stand. Biscuits and Magical Footwear are for secondaries.

Camille

Rounding out the top three is another champion with a ton of playmaking potential: Camille.

Camille received some nice buffs in patch 14.2 despite starting season 14 on the weaker side. These buffs have put her back in a good spot. Camille is a champion who can easily snowball once an early advantage is acquired.

The long-range from Camille’s E gives her some of the best catch power for any top lane champion. This makes learning her matchups inside and out and being able to smash lane super rewarding with Camille. Something unique about Camille is that she runs Ignite with Teleport for her summoner spell combination. Getting used to this may take a bit of time, but having that Ignite opens up for many more solo kill angles in lane.

The build for Camille is a Trinity Force rushed into Ionian Boots, followed by Ravenous Hydra. For runes, opt for Conqueror, Triumph, Alacrity, and Last Stand. As for secondaries, choose Magical Footwear paired with Approach Velocity.

Conclusion

In conclusion, one-tricking a champion is an effective way to climb the ranked ladder quickly. This approach allows players to focus on the macro aspects of the game. In season 14, the best champions to one-trick in the top lane are Kled, Irelia, and Camille. Each champion offers unique skill expressions and playmaking potential.
