Plague Guide

The Plague’s mix of regular and ranged attacks separates her from other killers in Dead by Daylight. Her mechanics and strategic depth result in an incredibly high skill ceiling, which provides a satisfying challenge for players. With her fantastic teachable benefits, such as generator control, survivor tracking, and a fun silly stealth perk, she’s an excellent choice if you seek useful teachables. This guide will look at the best DBD Plague build to efficiently use her powers

Best Plague Build 2024

Best Plague Build

This build is just so ridiculously reliable and simple, that you cannot go wrong with it. If you want a very simple approach to playing The Plague with almost any add-ons, this build is for you.

  • Discordance (The Legion): Any generator within a 128-meter radius that is being repaired by two or more Survivors has a yellow aura. Discordance will send a loud noise notification.
  • Tinkerer (The Hillbilly): When a generator is repaired to 70% progress, you will receive a loud noise notification and the Undetectable status effect for the following 16 seconds. The Killer’s aura, Terror Radius, and Red Stain stay undetectable.
  • Deadlock (The Cenobite): After a generator has been repaired, The Entity disables the generator with the most progress for 30 seconds. You can notice its white aura during this time.
  • No Way Out (The Trickster): No Way Out receives a token after hooking their first Survivor. No Way Out activates once the exit gates are turned on. A loud noise notification is sent whenever a Survivor interacts with an exit gate switch. The Entity then disables both exit gate switches for 12 seconds, with an additional 12 seconds for each token in your possession.

It might seem a bit silly to have two generator info perks together, but it does make sense, especially on The Plague.

With Discordance and Tinkerer, you have so much information; you know when to commit when to vile purge on gens, when to pick up your fountains, and so much more that significantly benefits the match. Deadlock is fantastic on its own and works very well with Tinkerer, you can put a lot of pressure on survivors and prevent them from going for the gates too early.

One example of the things that survivors do in the end game against Killers is typically tapping the gates as soon as possible, but against The Plague, they’re often a little too slow and busy trying to cleanse, and they don’t always touch the gates immediately, which means that no way out is even more useful on her than your average killer.

Alternative Plague Build

Alternative Plague Build

This build will provide useful information at the beginning of the game. It will also allow you to destroy survivors after they unhook their teammates.

  • Lethal Pursuer (The Nemesis): At the start of a trial you are shown all Survivors’ auras for 9 seconds. Every time you see a Survivor’s aura, its duration is increased by 2 seconds.
  • Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance (The Artist): At the start of the trial, as many as 4 generators are randomly changed to scourge hooks. You can see their auras in white. You start the trial with 4 tokens. The first time a Survivor is hooked on a scourge hook you loose one token and the generator with the most progress explodes losing 25% of their progress and starting to regress.
  • Scourge Hook: Floods of Rage (The Onry?): At the beginning of the trial, up to 4 random hooks are converted into scourge hooks. You can see their auras in white. When a Survivor is unhooked from a scourge hook, all other Survivors’ auras are visible for 7 seconds.
  • Terminus (The Mastermind): This perk is activated when the exit gates are powered. While Terminus is active, injured, downed, and hooked Survivors suffer the Broken status effect until the exit gates open. When the exit gates open, Survivors will remain Broken for an additional 30 seconds.

Pain Res and Floods of Rage are incredibly effective on Plague. When expecting an unhook save, positioning near fountains provides useful information, even if far away. After the unhook, knowing survivors’ locations allows for massive destruction with your Corrupt Purge, further enhanced by Lethal Pursuer. Additionally, Terminus while not a top-tier perk uniquely benefits Plague, wasting survivors’ time during endgame cleanses trying to heal.

Hex Plague Build

Hex Plague Build

During a chase, survivors have limited options with this build. This build will prevent survivors from vaulting windows and dropping pallets.

  • Hex: Crowd Control (The Trickster): After a Survivor performs a rushed vault through a window, the Entity blocks it for 60 seconds.
  • Hex: Blood Favour (The Blight): Injuring a Survivor causes The Entity to block pallets from being pulled down within a 32-meter radius of the Survivor’s location for 15 seconds.
  • Hex: Retribution (The Deathslinger): Any Survivor who interacts with a Dull or Hex Totem will become Oblivious for 45 seconds. If any Hex Totem, including this one, is removed, the auras of all Survivors become visible for 15 seconds.
  • Hex: Pentimento (The Artist): You can see the aura of destroyed Totems. You can use a ritual to bring back a destroyed Totem as a Hex Totem for Hex: Pentimento. Hex: Pentimento gains an additional effect when multiple Hex Totems are active at the same time. 1 Hex Totem: Reduces survivors’ repair speed by 30%. 2 Hex Totems: Reduces survivors’ healing speed by 30%. 3 Hex Totems: Reduces Survivors’ recovery time after being downed by 30%. 4 Hex Totems: Reduces survivors’ exit gate opening speed by 30%. 5 Hex Totems: The Entity blocks all Totems.

For this hex build, Crowd Control is crazy good. Blood Fever prevents survivors from using pallets. This means that if you get stunned by a pallet, you lose your Corrupt Purge, but if it’s blocked, survivors can’t drop it. Anytime survivors cleanse any of the totems, you can relighten them with Pentimento. They will also trigger Retribution, revealing all survivor locations.

Best Plague Add-ons

  • Iridescent Seal: You will automatically enter Corrupt Purge whenever survivors complete a generator. It will also reduce the duration of the Corrupt Purge by 20 seconds. (Especially good when paired with Tinkerer and Deadlock.)
  • Black Incense: The Auras of Infected vomiting Survivors are revealed for 3 seconds to you. (If survivors decide to stay injured the whole match, you can see them through it all.)
  • Blessed Apple: Causes 1 Pool of Devotion to be generated in the Corrupted state. (This will increase the chance of getting a great active fountain at the beginning of the game.)
  • Ashen Apple: Causes 1 Pool of Devotion to be generated in the Corrupted state. Increases the number of possible Pools of Devotion by 1. (Combo Blessed Apple with this one and you get even better chances of great spawn.)
