In this post, I’ll discuss my top five favorite Flashbang builds in Dead by Daylight, none of which include Background Player. While it can fit into these builds, I personally enjoy going for Flashbang saves without it. Below are the builds and how the build perks synergize with each other.

How to Use the Flashbang

To make the most out of your Flashbangs in Dead by Daylight, it’s important to focus on timing and positioning.

First, try to stay close to the Killer while they are attacking other Survivors. Flashbang saves require you to be nearby, but don’t get too close or you’ll risk being downed yourself.

Next, when the Killer is recovering from their attack, this is your opportunity. Move in quickly to get into position. If you can approach without making noise, even better. Perks like Light-footed and Iron Will help with this, keeping you silent as you get close.

The key to a successful Flashbang is timing. When the Killer picks up a Survivor, listen closely. The moment the Survivor starts moaning during the pickup animation is when you should throw the Flashbang. Throw it immediately in front of the Killer to blind them. The Flashbang must be in front of their eyes for it to work, so positioning is everything.

Anti-Tunnel & Chase Build

Anti-Tunnel & Chase Build
  • Flashbang (Leon Scott Kennedy): Allows you to create a Flashbang after repairing generators and use it to blind or disorient the killer.
  • Lithe (Feng Min): Grants a burst of speed after performing a rushed vault, helping you quickly reposition or get closer to downed Survivors.
  • Off the Record (Zarina Kassir): After being unhooked, you gain the Endurance status and your grunts of pain are completely silenced, making it easier to sneak around for saves.
  • Decisive Strike (Laurie Strode): If you’re unhooked and then downed again, this perk allows you to stun the killer and get back into the game quickly, which can be useful for staying alive while attempting Flashbang saves.

This build focuses on survival with some synergy for Flashbang saves. Lithe helps you move quickly, while Off the Record and Decisive Strike give you more protection when recently unhooked, ensuring you can attempt saves without immediate danger.

Empathy Flashbang Build

Empathy Flashbang Build
  • Flashbang (Leon Scott Kennedy): Your go-to perk for creating a Flashbang after repairing generators, which you can use to blind the killer.
  • Fixated (Nancy Wheeler): Increases your walking speed and lets you see your own scratch marks, making it easier to navigate around the map silently and find opportunities for a flash save.
  • Lightweight (General Perk): Reduces the duration of your scratch marks, making you harder to track after running, which is great for repositioning and staying hidden.
  • Empathy (Claudette Morel): Reveals the aura of injured Survivors from a distance, allowing you to find teammates who are being chased and potentially set up a Flashbang save.

This build focuses on positioning and stealth. The combination of Fixated and Lightweight makes you harder to track, while Empathy allows you to follow Survivors in chase, making it easier to plan your saves.

Generator Rush Flashbang Build

Generator Rush Flashbang Build
  • Flashbang (Leon Scott Kennedy): Generate Flashbangs to disrupt the killer and assist teammates.
  • Stake Out (David Tapp): Gain tokens for every 15 seconds you’re in the killer’s terror radius without being chased. These tokens allow you to hit great skill checks more easily, speeding up generator progress.
  • Hyperfocus (Rebecca Chambers): Each great skill check increases the progress of your current action. Paired with Stake Out, this perk helps you complete generators much faster, enabling you to get Flashbangs quicker.
  • Déjà Vu (General Perk): Reveals the auras of generators in close proximity, helping you identify which gens to prioritize for maximum efficiency.

The goal of this build is to create as many Flashbangs as possible while progressing generators. You can stack Flashbangs and use them aggressively, all while contributing to gen progress with Stake Out and Hyperfocus.

Sabo Flashbang Build

Sabo Flashbang Build
  • Flashbang (Leon Scott Kennedy): Your signature perk for generating Flashbangs and disorienting the killer during hook saves.
  • Resilience (General Perk): Increases your action speed when injured, making it faster to sabotage hooks or drop Flashbangs.
  • Saboteur (Jake Park): Allows you to sabotage hooks without needing a toolbox. Use this perk to stop the killer from hooking Survivors near you.
  • Breakout (Yui Kimura): When you’re near a carried Survivor, they wiggle out faster. This can be crucial for pulling off clutch saves, especially when combined with Flashbangs.

This build focuses on sabotaging hooks and using Flashbangs to disorient the killer during pickups. Resilience and Saboteur allow for fast hook sabotage, while Breakout helps ensure wiggle escapes.

Stealth Flashbang Build

Stealth Flashbang Build
  • Flashbang (Leon Scott Kennedy): Create a Flashbang after completing generator repairs and use it to blind or distract the killer.
  • Iron Will (Jake Park): Silences your grunts of pain when injured, making it easier to stay hidden.
  • Light-footed (Ellen Ripley): Suppresses the sound of your footsteps while running, allowing you to move quietly around the map.
  • Champion of Light (Alan Wake): Shining a flashlight gives you a +50% Haste bonus while blinding the killer applies a -20% Hindered effect for 6 seconds.

This build is great in stealth and mobility, with perks that keep you quiet and difficult to track, while Champion of Light gives you a speed boost and hinders the killer after successful blinds.
