Finding netherite in Minecraft is not easy especially if you are a beginner. It is a rare item only found in the Nether dimension. You have to be very strategic and smart in your approach to mine it.
This blog post will guide you about finding netherite in Minecraft using new methods that are 100% tried and tested. We will cover the chunk border method and TNT method in detail.
What is Netherite?
Netherite is currently the strongest material in Minecraft. It can float on the lava and can not be destroyed by fire. Only the cactus and blue wither skulls can destroy it.
You can mine netherite only with a diamond or a netherite pick axe. Netherite or its raw form known as ancient debris is found underground in the nether dimension in the chunks of 1-3. It may be seen at any Y level. However, it is mostly found at Y-level 15.
Best Places for Finding Netherite in Minecraft
You can not go into any biome and start digging underground to find netherite. Some biomes have more chances of netherite mining than others, so it is better to start with them. Places like warped forests and nether waste biomes are your best bet. Both offer a safe environment without any hostile mobs and the digging process is easy there.
Keep in mind to never mine for netherite in basalt deltas. You will find basalt and blackstone there which are very hard to break. It may tire you soon since the mining process will get very slow. Moreover, you may dig yourself into lava which is very dangerous.
Other biomes such as crimson forests and soulsand valleys are not great options as well. They are full of hostile mobs that can spawn within your tunnels in the digging process. They can get harder to deal with distracting you from your main task – to find netherite.
How to Mine for Ancient Debris?
The two best methods for finding ancient debris(the raw form of Netherite) in Minecraft are Chunk Border Mining and TNT Mining. According to the Aether Gamer, chunk border mining gives 0.87 ancient debris per minute and the TNT mining method gives 1.6 ancient debris per minute.

Chunk Border Mining
Chunk border mining is an efficient method for finding ancient debris as they often spawn near the borders of chunks. Mining netherite using this method may take a toll on the durability of your tools. So we suggest using at least one Efficiency II or above diamond pickaxe with mending enchantment on it. It will be some hard work so better take along some torches, food, and fire resistance potions with you.

- Start with digging down to the Y=15 level and press ‘F3+G’ keys together.
- If that does not work, try pressing the ‘Fn+F3+G’ keys together.
- You will see chunk borders on your screen with blue and yellow thin lines.
- Now dig a 2 by 2 tunnel in any direction.
- Keep digging until you see a chunk line perpendicular to you. Next, dig a 2 by 2 tunnel in the direction of that perpendicular line.
- If you keep on repeating this process, you are mining along the chunk borders where netherite spawns the most.

Why to Mine on Chunk Borders?
The netherite often spawns on the borders of the chunk. When mining on borders using a 2 by 2 tunnel, you are accessing the blocks in two chunks. You can find netherite only once in a particular chunk. So by mining on borders, you are increasing the odds of finding it in the next few blocks. That is why it is a highly efficient method.
Finding Netherite with Chunk Border Method in Bedrock Edition
Chunk lines can not appear in Bedrock Edition of Minecraft. It is not that they are not present rather they can not be displayed. So we will do some simple maths to track the coordinates of a chunk border.
- Turn up your co-ordinates. For instance, assume a coordinate value of 70,15,24 to understand the process.
- Divide either your Z-value or X-value by 16.
- If you do not get a whole number, round it to the nearest whole number. For example, 24/16 is 1.5, so the nearest whole number will be 2.
- Multiply the result by 2, so 16 multiplied by 2 is 32.
- The coordinates for the nearest chunk border will be: 70,15,32 with 32 being the result of our simple calculations.
- Now you can start mining on the chunk borders in Bedrock Edition. Keep in mind that every chunk border is exactly 16 blocks away from the other one.
TNT Method Mining
This is an expensive method which requires the use of TNT. If you think it is not viable to spend so much on this method, let us remind you that it is the most efficient method providing impressive results.
Start with the Y-level 13. Dig a large tunnel around 100-200 blocks long. Start to place TNT every 3 to 4 blocks. Once they are all set, light up the TNTs. Make sure each of them explodes. The entire tunnel will be blown and you can now travel through the large tunnel and collect ancient debris around.

Important Tips for Mining Netherite
- During the mining process, you may run into lava. Although lava appears less frequently in warped forests and nether waste biomes compared to others, but there is still a chance. Unless it is a substantial chunk that is blocking you, just block it and continue mining in the other direction.
- You may find gold or nether quartz ore during mining. These are some invaluable items during this process as they will help to repair your mending pickaxe’s durability. Moreover, there can be some ancient debris hidden behind the ore as well.
- If you find debris, don’t just skip it and move away. Sometimes a lot is hiding there. So mine around it as well and look for other valuable items.
Final Thoughts
The mining process is hectic and can annoy you unless you follow our tried and tested methods. Take care of the biomes you dig in and you are well equipped to mine lots and lots of netherite with methods discussed above.
