minecraft trial chambers guide

In June 2024, a major update rolled out for Minecraft that gave it a new name, Minecraft 1.21. The update called Tricky Trials offers lots of interesting features such as crafter, trial spawner, new potions, and wind charge. However, the best addition so far is the Trial Chambers. They are like dangerous dungeons with unique challenges. For those players who are adventurous enough to dive in, they offer rare and unique rewards. Unknown and never explored before, they are not easy to navigate at all. This guide will help you understand Trial Chambers in detail, how to find them the easy way, and their key features. So let us get started!

What are Trial Chambers in Minecraft 1.21?

The concept behind Trial Chambers is to let players test their skills against a controlled onslaught of spawn mobs while offering rare rewards such as loot and chests. They are underground structures hidden beneath the ground in the overworld and are found within deep slate layers.

Understanding the Structure of Trial Chambers

From outside, they seem to be maze-like corridors. Built from copper bricks and tuff blocks, they are found deep within -20 and -40 layers. Although each of them is unique with its own set of challenges and rewards, they share a similar structure. They comprise chambers, corridors, atrium, and hallways.

Chambers are the place where real combat happens. You can find trial spawners, loots, or chests, and at least one ominous vault there. The atrium connects the entrance chamber to the first corridor. Hallways are passageways that connect corridors to other combat chambers.

Finding Trial Chambers in Minecraft 1.21 the Easy Way!

It can be a bit tricky to find Trial Chambers as they are hidden from plain sight in the underground. However, if you follow our tried and tested methods, no one can stop you from finding them!

1) Exploring Deepslate Layers

This is an old-school approach to finding them. As you continue to explore the world around you, you can find them underground in the deep layers. You don’t have to go as deep as bedrock layers that contain ancient cities in Minecraft, rather you can find them fairly above.

2) Trial Explorer Map

You must be aware of maps sold by cartographers in Minecraft. If you can get a Trial Explorer Map from a journeyman-level cartographer villager, you can get the directions for the nearest Trial Chamber on it. You can buy it for a mere compass and 12 emeralds.

3) Using Console Commands

This method uses teleportation to send you directly to the nearest Trial Chamber. However, you need to enable cheats on either Java or Bedrock to apply this method. Once it is enabled, just open your chat and type the following command ‘/locate structure minecraft:trial_chambers’. Doing so will show the coordinates of the nearest one on your screen. Now you just need to activate teleportation by typing /tp for the coordinates and there you are!

4) Using an Online Seed Finder

There are various online seed finder tools available such as Chunkbase and Minecraft Seed Map. You have to visit them, select your Minecraft version, and enter your seed there. Remember to activate Trial Chambers in the features section. The map will load showing the coordinates of various locations. Now trace out the coordinates of Trial Chambers. They are easily visible by the trial spawner marker.

Once you get the coordinates, you can use teleportation to send yourself to those coordinates. This is the easiest and fastest way to find them in Minecraft.

Key Features of Trial Chambers

Trial Chambers consist of many exciting and unique features. We will discuss them one by one in this section.

Minecraft Trial Spawners

Trial spawners are a special kind of mob creators found within Trial Chambers. Rather than spawning an endless number of mobs, they generate mobs depending on the number of players nearby. This is done on purpose to adjust the difficulty level accordingly.

They can spawn various types of hostile mobs such as the Breeze, Baby Zombie, Husk, Cave Spider, Silverfish, Skeleton, etc. The good thing is that you can always predict the type of mobs according to the kind of blocks present. For example: Bone blocks spawn Skeleton, moss blocks spawn Slime, Ice blocks spawn Stray, and so on. In the event of an ominous trial, they can turn into an ominous one.

Once you overcome all the mobs from a Trial Spawner, it will go inactive for 30 minutes and eject loot or a trial key.

Ominous Trials

If you are tired of regular mobs pitted against you and want to try something next level, you should go for an ominous trial. Once triggered, it sets you up for an onslaught by more hostile and powerful mobs than ever seen before. The way to trigger an ominous trial is to enter the Trial Chamber with a Bad Omen status. You can do this by killing a pillager captain or by drinking an ominous battle found in rewards.

Trial Keys and Vaults

The trial keys can open various vault blocks found in the Trial Chambers. You can get them from various places such as inactive trial spawners, entrance chests, and decorated pots. However, you can only get the ominous trial key by killing the ominous trial spawner.

Once you get the key, you can use it to open various vaults in Minecraft 1.21. They are blocks that can be opened with a key. Numerous rewards are waiting in them. As the name suggests, ominous vaults contain rare and unique rewards not find anywhere else.

Final Words

Trial Chambers are the newest addition to the already amazing Minecraft game. The challenging aspect makes it even more interesting. As you overcome every trial spawner and make your way to the rare loot, you will enjoy a sense of achievement and fulfillment.
