Reaching the End means getting to a whole different dimension, and you cannot just type a normal teleport command to jump there. This guide covers both ways to get to the End: the survival route through an End portal, and the command that teleports you across dimensions with cheats on.

Quick answer: a plain /tp cannot cross dimensions. In survival, reach the End by activating an End portal in a stronghold with 12 Eyes of Ender. With cheats, use /execute in the_end run tp @s x y z to teleport straight into the End.

The Survival Way: The End Portal
Without cheats, the End is reached through the naturally generated End portal found in a stronghold:
1. Craft Eyes of Ender from 1 ender pearl + 1 blaze powder each. You want about 12 or more.
2. Find the stronghold by throwing an Eye of Ender; it floats toward the nearest stronghold. Follow the direction it flies, throwing more until they drop into the ground, then dig down.
3. Fill the portal frame. The End portal is a 12-block ring. Place an Eye of Ender in each empty frame block until all 12 are filled and the portal activates.
4. Jump in to be taken to the End.
A Cleric villager sells Ender Pearls, which is a safe way to stock up for the Eyes of Ender you need.
The Command Way: Teleport With Cheats
A normal /tp x y z only moves you within your current dimension, so it cannot send you to the End. To cross dimensions you use the execute command with cheats enabled:
- Java and Bedrock: /execute in the_end run tp @s 100 64 0 teleports you into the End at those coordinates (Java’s full dimension ID is the_end, written minecraft:the_end).
- Replace the numbers with your target coordinates. Near 0 64 0 drops you close to the central End island where the dragon fight is.

Getting Back From the End
To leave the End after beating the dragon, step through the exit portal that appears, which returns you to your world spawn. A smaller End gateway (reached with an Ender Pearl) leads out to the outer End islands. If you used a command to get in, you can command your way back out with /execute in the_overworld run tp @s x y z.
