Exhaustion mechanics have changed over time in Dead by Daylight. In the early stages, using an exhaustion perk like Sprint Burst did not stop your exhaustion meter from decreasing while running. This meant that your exhaustion meter would start to decrease even if you were still running from the killer.
However, this resulted in some unbalanced gameplay, especially when survivors could loop the killer for the duration of the exhaustion cooldown before simply recharging Sprint Burst and repeating the process. This made it extremely frustrating for killers, often encouraging them to reconsider playing that day.
The game’s mechanics have changed over time, and exhaustion meters now only decrease when survivors are not running. This has changed the nature of chases, but has the era of using multiple Sprint Bursts in the same chase come to an end? Let’s look into a build that could potentially revive that strategy and be the best looping build of 2024.
The Infinite Sprint Burst Build

This build focuses on maximizing the speed boost given by the Sprint Burst, strategically walking and using Vigil to reduce the cooldown on exhaustion perks. Sprint Burst can be activated multiple times within the same chase if you manage your charges efficiently and apply appropriate walking phases.
- Sprint Burst (Meg Thomas): When activated, this effect increases your speed by 150% for 3 seconds. Exhausted status lasts 40 seconds, preventing use until the cooldown is over.
- Vigil (Quentin Smith): Vigil is essential to this build since it shortens Sprint Burst’s cooldown by reducing the exhaustion’s duration. Vigil allows survivors to regain Sprint Burst more quickly, potentially activating it several times in a single chase. With this perk, Sprint Burst’s 40-second cooldown is only 28 seconds now.
- Fixated (Nancy Wheeler): Survivors can move 20% faster with the complementary Fixated perk while waiting for Sprint Burst’s exhaustion to recharge.
- Windows of Opportunity (Kate Denson): Increases the capacity to read auras by displaying the auras of vault locations, breakable walls, and pallets at a distance of up to 32 meters. When being chased, this perk provides crucial information that helps in deciding which direction to take. Experienced players, however, might choose Adrenaline or Resilience instead.
Best Looping Build 2024

This well-rounded build suits players of all levels, providing consistent looping support in all your matches. It’s worth noting that it’s built towards aggressive play, heavily emphasizing chasing. Be aware that your team may become frustrated if you go down quickly despite the build’s aggressive approach.
- Balanced Landing (Nea Karlsson): Will reduce the effects of falling, allowing survivors to recover faster and sprint at increased speed for a short duration after a fall. However, it will give you the Exhausted status for 40 seconds after use.
- Windows of Opportunity (Kate Denson): Widely known as the go-to perk for beginners looking to improve their looping skills, Windows of Opportunity provides helpful information by revealing the auras of vault locations, breakable walls, and pallets, which can help you with decision making, also learning the map.
- Made for This (Gabriel Soma): Grants Endurance after healing another survivor, allowing you to survive one hit. It also boosts your speed while affected by Deep Wound. It’s worth running now, but be cautious of potential nerfs.
- Resilience (General Perk): Increases your action speeds, including vaulting, when you are injured. It’s a useful perk for faster escapes and looping during chases.
