In recent months, there has been a gradual buff to one of the most effective survivor builds, making it quite strong. Surprisingly, this build, known as the Luck Build, has gone unnoticed by many in Dead by Daylight. It relies on perks like Up the Ante and Slippery Meat, which are generally unpopular and considered weak. However, when combined with luck offerings and used by the entire team, this build becomes extremely powerful.

How the Luck Build Works

With this build, luck is everything. Perks like Up the Ante dramatically increase your chances of unhooking yourself. When combined with luck offerings, your team’s luck stacks together. The result? You reach near 100% success rates when attempting to unhook yourself. This makes it extremely difficult for the killer to gain any meaningful pressure.

At first, this strategy might seem pretty week, and in earlier patches, it did have weaknesses. But those weaknesses have been patched up, and the build is almost flawless. Even if the killer camps you, this build makes sure you have plenty of tools to escape.

Best Luck Build 2024

  • Slippery Meat (General Perk): This perk increases the number of available Self-Unhook attempts by +3, and increases your odds of succeeding at unhook escape attempts by 4%. It synergizes perfectly with Up the Ante, and with additional luck from offerings, you’ll have a much higher chance to unhook yourself.
  • Up the Ante (Ace Visconti): For every survivor still in the trial, this perk increases the odds of succeeding at a Self-Unhook attempt by 3% per token, up to a maximum of 9%. This makes escaping hooks much more reliable when paired with Slippery Meat and Luck offerings.
  • Unbreakable (Bill Overbeck): This perk allows you to completely recover from the dying state once per trial and increases your recovery speed by 35%, making it difficult for killers to capitalize on slugging.
  • Resurgence (Jill Valentine): After being unhooked or unhooking yourself, this perk grants you 70% healing progress, making it possible to heal almost immediately with a med-kit.

Alternatively, you can consider bringing Decisive Strike. If the killer picks you up again after being unhooked, Decisive Strike allows you to stun them and escape, making it riskier for the killer to focus on you. Additionally, if you prefer to avoid relying on luck entirely, you can use the new perk Wicked to guarantee a 100% chance of escaping from basements when hooked there.

Why This Build is So Strong

When used as a team strategy, this build setup is borderline unstoppable. In previous versions, killers could camp hooks and build pressure by downing multiple survivor teammates. But with this build, survivors can unhook themselves, heal quickly, and split up before the killer can capitalize.

Even in a solo queue match, this build can work wonders. Slippery Meat and Up the Ante make sure that your odds of self-unhooking are incredibly high. Unbreakable makes slugging ineffective, while Resurgence confirms that you’re not just escaping hooks but getting right back to full health afterward.

In many cases, the killer is left in a lose-lose situation. If they camp, you can unhook yourself. Whether they slug, you can pick yourself up with Unbreakable. If they leave you, you heal with Resurgence. The killer simply cannot gain pressure, and survivors are always back to full health or ready to continue working on generators.

Conclusion

The Luck Build in Dead by Daylight has quietly become one of the most powerful strategies for survivors. What was once seen as weak and unreliable is now a pretty game-changing. Whether you’re playing solo or with a team, stacking luck perks like Slippery Meat and Up the Ante with offerings will dramatically improve your odds of survival. If you haven’t tried this build yet, now is the time.
